Vancouver, BC – March 20, 2019: Victoria-based Julianne Zussman is heading to the National University Sevens Championships March 22-24th at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. She will join match officials from across the country as the tournament gets underway on Friday.
Zussman is a National Senior Women’s Team alumni who represented Canada in multiple Women’s Rugby World Cups. In her recent transition to refereeing, she has demonstrated the same professionalism, dedication and work rate that she was known for as a player.
Her refereeing career has really stepped up in the last 12 months, overseeing senior women’s and men’s rugby during the 2018-2019 BC Rugby Senior Club season. Coming off solid performances in the Vancouver Sevens Invitational Final and CanWest Women’s 7s Series, it comes as little surprise that Zussman is now securing refereeing roles at bigger and bigger tournaments. The action at this weekend’s National University Sevens will doubtless be another positive step in this rapidly blossoming referee career.
