About the Tournament
The Vancouver Sevens Invitational (VSI) is a two-day Rugby Sevens Tournament held at the University of British Columbia. Taking place on March 5-6, 2020, the VSI is the ideal stage for elite teams preparing for a packed summer of top-level Rugby Sevens. Now in its fourth year, the VSI has become a regular feature in the West Coast rugby calendar and is one of the highlights of the Vancouver Rugby Festival.
The proximity of the Vancouver Rugby Festival to the HSBC Canada Sevens Tournament means this is more than just a couple of days of competition. Once again, players and staff taking part in the VSI will have exclusive access to reduced rate tickets for both Saturday and Sunday’s action at BC Place. This gives teams access to a perfect combo of playing and watching some of the best examples of Rugby Sevens anywhere in the world.
The Vancouver Sevens Invitational has evolved over the years and found its place as a top-level, development focussed tournament for the rising stars of Rugby Sevens in North America and beyond. As such, the tournament offers three divisions to both male and female teams - Senior, U18 and U16. Find out more about each below and see if your team has what it takes to challenge for the top spot.
Senior - Men’s & Women’s
The Senior Men and Women’s competitions are all about power, pace and performance. This division, open to players of all ages, is a perfect fit for the best collegiate, academy and club teams who are seeking out quality competition. Are your players targeting spots in provincial and national programs? Are they the next shining stars of the Rugby Sevens scene? Then this is the division for you!
U18 Boys & Girls
They might be a step behind in their journey, but the U18 Divisions at the Vancouver Sevens Invitational are bursting with just as much exciting talent as their NextGen peers. Not only will your youth players find a high level of competition on the field, but they will have a unique chance to observe and learn from some of the top athletes in the sport. Give your players something to aim for and let’s inspire them to become the very best Rugby Sevens stars. For U18 players must be born 2002 or earlier.
U16 Boys & Girls
For teams in the U16 Divisions, it is all about exposure to high-quality rugby. We are looking out for ambitious teams and ambitious players, ones that will make older athletes turn their heads and say “wow”. If you’re a U16 team with big dreams and the drive to pursue them, we want you here to show everyone how exciting the future of Rugby Sevens is going to be. U16 players must be born 2004 or earlier.
