Vancouver, BC – November 29, 2019: Three exciting matches of age-grade girls rugby will take place this Sunday at the 2019 BC Rugby Junior Girls’ Club Finals. The event, to be held at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver, is the culmination of a hard-fought 2019 age-grade girls’ rugby season.
The U16 Bronze Medal Game between between Coquitlam’s United Rugby Club and Vancouver Island’s WestBays (a combination of Westshore RFC and James Bay AA players) will begin the day’s events. The gold medal games at the U16 and U19 levels will both be contested between Abbotsford RFC and Castaway Wanderers RFC. The day will be capped off by an intra-squad game featuring two BC senior women’s XVs sides.
United Rugby Club fell short in last year’s bronze medal match to the hosting Cowichan RFC and will be hoping to capitalize on this year’s opportunity against 2018 finalists WestBays. Abbotsford will be looking to repeat as U16 champions in their match against Castaway Wanderers RFC.
In the U19 final, Abbotsford RFC face Castaway Wanderers RFC for the third straight year. The Castaways have won two straight championships and will try for a threepeat on Sunday, while Abbotsford look to finally slay the dragon.
All matches will be streamed live via Youtube at bcrugby.com/live.
Admission is free of charge. Donations to Charleigh’s Journey and the Monty Heald Fund are encouraged. For more information, scores, live stream links and donation information, please visit our event page.
