Langley, BC – September 7, 2018: The Langley Rugby Club is proud to announce that it is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2018/19 season. The L.R.C. played it’s first game around the time of the first manned moon landing and just before the Beatles disbanded (1969 for those of you with foggy memories). Although only twelve men ever walked on the moon, over one thousand men, women, boys and girls have proudly worn the Langley team colours for the past half-century.
The L.R.C. organization has enjoyed great team success throughout the years, winning many league and provincial championships. A number of the players have struck gold as well, playing for regional, provincial and national teams.
The 50th Anniversary will be celebrated with a number of events, the first of which takes place on Saturday, September 22.at the Langley Rugby Club field on Crush Crescent (see the map below). This event, doubtless the biggest party in the Fraser Valley that weekend, will include:
- Third division game at 11:15 a.m
- Second division game at 12:45 p.m
- Salmon barbecue at 2:00 p.m ( 120 tickets available )
- Meet and greet (plenty of time to connect with old friends)
Anyone who has ever played for, or supported, the Langley Rugby Club during the past 50 years is invited to join them on Saturday, September 22nd for an awesome day of watching rugby and connecting with old friends. Parking is always free and guests are encouraged to bring along the whole family for what will surely be a wonderful celebration of the character, camaraderie and community spirit that is so entwined with the sport of Rugby.
