Interview and Player Profile: UBC Thunderbirds and Canada U20’s Emma Feldinger
Feldinger was named one of four recipients of BC Rugby’s inaugural Representative Player Bursary last week
Vancouver, BC – September 26, 2019: Emma Feldinger is the first in our series of player profiles on the four recipients of BC Rugby’s Representative Player Bursary. Emma spoke with UBC campus radio station CiTR 101.9 FM about her first match of the season with the Thunderbirds, her experience at the Tri-Nations Cup with the Canadian Under-20 women’s team, and her future in rugby.
“It just takes that stress away, and makes it so I can focus more on the rugby and school aspect of my life”, said Feldinger of the bursary.
Feldinger has quickly risen through the rugby ranks, starting her career in high school, and winning the Canadian Rugby Sevens U18 National Championship with BC in 2017. From there, she was selected to Canada’s U18 girls side and offered the chance to play rugby at the University of British Columbia. This summer, she received her first selection to the Canadian under-20 women’s national team, defeating the US and scoring a try against England. “I still have one more year of U20s, and from there my goal has been just to make a World Cup, to just have that certification that I am that good and that I made it that far.”
