Vancouver, BC – August 29th, 2019: BC Rugby is excited to announce the BC NextGen Sevens roster that will be entered into the men’s division of the seventh annual Langford 7s tournament to be held on August 31st at Westhills Stadium. The tournament also features U19 divisions for men’s and women’s teams, and promises to be an exciting day of sevens action.
The BC Nextgen Sevens side will face off against teams from throughout BC and a MacDowell Rugby team comprised of up-and-coming young sevens players from across Canada. The tournament opener will be played following the conclusion of the BC All Stars vs Canada game, between the MacDowell Rugby side and the Pacific Warriors. BC’s first match of the tournament is against James Bay AA, and is scheduled for 10:40 AM on Saturday.
Several familiar faces fill out the BC Nextgen lineup. Aaron McLelland and Fraser Hurst suit up after winning the Best of the West series with the BC Bears, while Jarvis Dashkewytch joins from the Canadian U20 Men’s national team. Hurst is also a member of the BC All Stars side taking on Canada on Friday, as is Lucas Bradley. Nathan Tough returns from last year’s Nextgen Sevens side that played in Langford.
The Langford 7s event is sure to provide the excitement and speed that rugby sevens is known for, and will make for a great day of rugby after the BC All Stars vs Canada match on Friday night. Action gets underway on Saturday at 9:40 AM when Castaway Wanderers RFC take on James Bay AA. For more details, visit the Langford 7s Facebook page.
