Want to take your rugby to the next level and represent your province? Your journey starts here.
ID Sessions are open to all athletes, both male and female, of qualifying age. They are part of a talent identification program aimed to uncover and develop athletes that have the potential to Play Provincial and National Level Rugby. Through these sessions, athletes have the opportunity to be selected for Regional Teams (PRCs) and the BC Rugby Provincial Age-Grade Representative XVs Teams.
This year BC will field teams in the following Age-Grades:
Boys - U19*U18, U17, U16, U15, U14
Girls - U18, U17, U16, U15, U14
*Note: U19 Male athletes will have a separate set of open ID sessions.
If you are unsure what Age-Grade you are in, use the following table:
On the day, ID sessions will consist of physical testing, skill assessments and small-sided games. All players must bring the appropriate clothing, footwear and mouth guards for their session. ID Sessions take place across the province and you do not need to be a local player to attend a particular session, just find the one that fits your schedule.

In 2019, the structure of Senior Women's Provincial competitions has been changed in order to reduce costs and stage more frequent games. The traditional CRC for Senior & U20 Women's teams will be replaced with a 4-team competition between BC and Alberta. The Annual Ruth Hellerud-Brown Cup will still take place and form part of the development program for players hoping to compete for their Province this summer.
Senior Women’s XVs Teams are selected from Open ID Sessions, as well as observation at matches in the BC Rugby Senior Leagues. Sessions are free and open to all players of qualifying age.
