Raise Your Game: New Coaching Opportunities in 2018

Vancouver, BC – Following on from the success of the BC Rugby Conference in January, a number of coaching development opportunities are being announced.  Whether you are looking to boost your coaching qualification, attend a seminar or take on a new coaching role, we’ve got plenty of news for you below.

Coaching Courses

There are courses coming up right across the province, so why not make the most of the opportunity and take your coaching skills to the next level!  Can’t see a course near you?  Contact Dean Murten (dmurten@bcrugby.com) and help us plan the right courses in the right locations.

World Rugby Level 1 – Nanaimo, February 4th, 8:30am-5:30pm

World Rugby Level 2 – Kelowna, February 23rd & 24th, 8:30am-5:30pm

World Rugby Level 1 Sevens – UBC, March 3rd, 9:00am-5:00pm

Coaching Seminars

With the HSBC Canada Sevens roaring into town at the start of March, there are a couple of fantastic coaching seminars on offer from world class Coaches Damian McGrath (Canada Men’s Sevens) and Andy Friend (Australia Men’s Sevens).  Both events will take place in the week leading up to the HSBC Canada Sevens weekend and are free to attend, but spaces are limited so book yours now!

March 6th – “Coaching Run, Catch, Pass in Sevens” with Damian McGrath

Coaching Roles

It may only be February, but already we’re looking to recruit coaches for the BC Provincial teams who will represent us this summer at tournaments like the Western Championships and Canadian Rugby Championships.  Job descriptions for each of the roles are available below, as well as on our Careers page.  Deadlines are just over a week away, so move fast and get your application in.  Who knows, it could be you leading some of the best and brightest talents in BC this summer!

Rep Team Head Coaches for 2018 Summer Season

BC Rugby is seeking experienced individuals for Head Coach positions for this summer’s BC Rep Teams. Reporting to BC Rugby’s Senior Manager, Growth and Development, the successful applicant will operate within the guidelines of a fiscally responsible provincial program that is committed to on-field success for both the player and the team, and the overall promotion of the game.

Each coach of our provincial teams plays an important role in developing the quality of rugby in Canada. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in delivering a holistic, high-performance program to ensure the BC Rugby XVs Rep Teams are at the leading edge of player development.

BC Bears: Senior Men’s XV Assistant Coach

BC Rugby is seeking an experienced individual for the Assistant Coach position with the BC Bears Senior Men’s XV. Reporting to and with direction from BC Rugby’s Senior Manager, Growth and Development, the successful applicant will operate within the guidelines of a fiscally responsible provincial program that is committed to on and off-field player development and team success and the overall promotion of the game. The position will be supported by BC Rugby staff in the operational delivery of the program and the promotion of the BC Bears Team.

Each coach of BC Rugby’s provincial teams plays an important role in developing the quality of rugby in Canada. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and vision to ensure that the Senior Men’s XV team is at the leading edge of player welfare and development.

Zone Head Coaches for BC Summer Games

BC Rugby is seeking experienced individuals for Head Coach positions in Zone Regions for the 2018 BC Summer Games hosted in Cowichan, BC.  Reporting to the Provincial Advisor the successful applicants will operate within the guidelines of The BC Games Society and BC Rugby for coaching, selection and preparation of the team to represent your zone. Each coach of the 8 zones plays an important role in developing the quality of rugby in BC and Canada.
