The action continued today as teams from across BC competed at the Provincial Regional Championships. After a fantastic first day of competitions, expectations were high for some scintillating action on the field. Safe to say that all of the players rose to the occasion admirably.
Of particular note today was the arrival of the U14 Girl's teams, a grouping that was making it's very first appearance at the PRCs. Their presence is a testament to the hard work from coaches, clubs, parents and staff at BC Rugby in nurturing young females to get involved with our great sport.
It was a scorching day under the sun at Burnaby Lake, resulting in a fantastic turn out of support for all teams. The players and match officials did exceedingly well to cope with the conditions for over nine hours. Each match finished with red faces and brows full of sweat, with teams giving every ounce of their energy in pursuit of glory.
Day three will see the exciting climax to the tournament with a series of knockout games across all the age groups. There is still much to play for, including medals, impressing Rep Team scouts and the odd grudge match. Given how enjoyable the first two days have proved to be, it is safe to say tomorrow will be the perfect end to a spectacular long weekend celebrating all the best elements of age grade rugby in BC. As always, a huge thank you to all players, referees and officials, coaching staff, parents, volunteers, medical staff and spectators for making the day so memorable.
