The preseason warm-up match between the BC Senior Women’s XV and Prairie Wolfpack proved to be a nail biter down to the last play. As the teams weren’t able to have practice matches in the previous years, both teams felt like they had something to gain ahead of this summer's Canadian Rugby Championship (CRC).
The game was a very close contest, with the lead changes throughout the game, and with 10 minutes left in the game, The Wolfpack scored to take a 39-31 lead. Refusing to go down without a fight, BC came back and scored with two minutes left in the game. After passing up the convert and with no time left on the clock, Gabby Senft made a break, running 40 metres down the field before dishing the ball to Angela Thompson, who scored the match winning try.
An extremely close practice match by two incredible teams, the Canadian Rugby Championship this summer is bound to be special. Once again, a big thanks to Kamloops Rugby Club for helping make this match happen.
Final Score: BC Senior Women 41-39 Prairie Wolfpack
