Ahead of a busy summer with Provincial Representative Teams, BC Rugby is delighted to announce its Player Subsidy Program. The program is open to both 15s and 7s team players, with the aim to minimize the cost constraints for trips to domestic championships or international tours.
CEO of BC Rugby, Annabel Kehoe, commented that “No player should be dissuaded from the opportunity to represent their Province because of funding worries. We want all of our players to look at selection to a BC Rugby Team for what it is: an exciting opportunity to grow their rugby skills and gain experience against highly competitive opponents.”
The Player Subsidy Program is available to any player selected onto a BC Rugby Team that is attending a National Championships or an international tournament or tour. As selection for this year’s Representative 15s Teams is well underway, and with the Provincial Regional Championships being held this weekend at Burnaby Lake, the program will come as a welcome announcement to many young players across the Province. These subsidies will hopefully ensure that the teams representing BC this summer, across Canada and internationally, will be full of the most talented athletes from right across the province.
