Happy Water U15 roster announced for PRCs

Published Thursday, July 3, 2014

VANCOUVER, BC – BC Rugby Happy Water U15 Coaches Tony LaCarte and Conan Cooper have announced their roster ahead of this weekend’s B2Gold Provincial Regional Championships at UBC’s Wolfson Fields. For the second straight year, the Happy Water U15 boys will be competing against U16 regional teams from across the province.

The U15 team was brought in to bridge the gap between the traditional U14 and U16 provincial programming provided by BC Rugby. In 2013, the U15s fared well in the U16 PRCs division, finishing as runner-ups to champions Vancouver North.

The U15s will have their work cut out from them when they kick off their tournament with a Friday double-header against Vancouver West and South Island Tide. Saturday will see the U15s battle North Island Tsunami and Thompson Okanagan, with another double-header on Sunday against Fraser Valley West and Vancouver North.

The BC U15 provincial program gives the players exposure to the next level of representative pathway and will ultimately support them in adapting to performance programs in the future.  Through the U15 PRCs and the selection process onto the the provincial program we have the opportunity to work with another 25 players developing to high levels of performance in rugby.

“We’re excited to see how our team of mostly younger players match up against the best of all the players from regions across BC,” Cooper says. “With all these players together in once place, competition will be high, and all the participants have an opportunity to challenge themselves, develop, and move on in the player system.  After representing their clubs and regions at this event, these guys will go back bringing their experiences and motivation with them."
