HONG KONG - The BC Elite Youth Sevens program is on the ground in Hong Kong and preparations are well underway for the 2014 Standard Chartered Bank International Youth Sevens on Thursday, March 27th. The players have been training with a number of different teams and have been sightseeing in one of the world's most vibrant cities.
After a day of recovery and light training, day two featured a training session at Kings Park, meeting up with team Canada to watch their preparations and a bit of shopping at the Stanley Market.
"The team trained with the Peninsula Representative U12 Rugby Program and our players helped them with their defence and played a short game of touch with them," said BCEY7's team manager Doug Tate. "We then went back to the hostel as it was a really full day for the team and the guys are tired as they had to battle crowds on the streets and in the subway all day."
Day three featured a visit to the Canadian International School where the BCEY7's had a scrimmage with Calgary-based Rundle School who are also in the Chartered Bank tournament on Thursday. The team then attended a clinic with the renowned Penguin Academy coaches at the Hong Kong Sevens Fan Zone. As always, a number of rugby stars were present including Serevi (pictured).
