Brentwood Rugby Sevens Development Camp scheduled for July 20-25

Brentwood College School will be hosting a Rugby Sevens Development Camp this summer for boys ages 13-16.

Welcome to the 2014 Brentwood Rugby 7s Camp. Rugby 7s is making its Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 and this camp is an ideal place to learn the basics of seven-a-side rugby in a fun, safe environment. The camp takes place over 5 days and offers both residential and non-residential formats. Our internationally experienced coaching staff will focus on fun, developing skills, increasing and measuring fitness and learning the dynamic game of 7s rugby.

OUR COACHING STAFF
Camp participants will benefit from a coaching staff with a tremendous amount of international experience. Throughout the camp, clinics addressing specific training units will be run by technical experts with playing and coaching experience in both 7- and 15-a-side rugby at the international level.

HEAD COACH – SHANE THOMPSON
A 7s expert, Shane played for Canada 7s from 1997 to 2005 including at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006. He parlayed his playing experience into coaching Canada 7s on the IRB series from 2005 to 2009. Beneficially for emerging players, Shane coached a number of representative teams including the Rugby Canada’s Maple Leaf development 7s team, BC’sYouth 7s Program and currently the BC Elite Youth 7s Program and Brentwood’s 7s Programme.

Friday, July 25
8:00 am to Noon Instruction and Final Challenge Games
