Jen Ross recognized as Sport BC Female Coach of the Year
John Lyall recognized with BC Rugby President's Award

VANCOUVER, BC - The winners of the 48th annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards  were recognized in a ceremony held March 5, 2014 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Jen Ross of Abbotsford, BC was recognized as Female Coach of the Year. John Lyall of Vicotria, BC was presented with the President's Award by BC Rugby CEO Jim Dixon.

Lyall has been invovled in rugby for nearly 30 years as a player, coach and administrator and still finds time to ply his trade in the Island Third Division on Sunday afternoons. A dedicated member of the South Island rugby community, Lyall currently serves as the Vice President of VIRU Club Rugby and has also been instrumental in establishing the setup of Velox-Langford's youth and mini rugby program. Lyall has also been heavily involved with Vancouver Island's representative program, the Vancouver Island Crimson Tide.

Jen Ross was the first BC coach to be recognized by Rugby Canada as their Female Coach of the Year. Jen has dedicated her time at the high school (Robert Bateman), Club (Abbotsford RFC), Regional (Fraser Valley) and Provincial (BC U16 Girls) levels and continues to give back to the game in every way possible. In 2013, she coached her club team to a provincial championship, led the U18 Fraser Valley squad to a Provincial Regional Championship, and won the National Championship with her U16 BC women’s provincial team.
