BURNABY, BC - The fourth Annual Burnaby Lake Rugby Club's Lighthouse 7s Tournament will be held on the shores of Burnaby Lake on July 27th. Spots are filling up fast, with six Elite Men and eight Elite Women spots already accounted for. Our target is 12 Elite Men and Women spots and sixteen Social Men spots.

We invite you to come and join us in what promises to be a day of fun, family and the very best of 7s display!
Burnaby Lake Rugby Club has won the BC Rugby 7s series three years in a row in both the Elite Men's and Women's Division and are looking to try and make it four years in a row this year.

"But we will be facing very stiff challenges from Abbotsford, Meralomas and Bayside this year," said tournament manager Roko Kapaiwai.  "Abbotsford has been progressing steadily in the last three years and finished ahead of us at the Vancouver 7s last month.   They will definitely be a team to watch in the Elite Men's Division".
Serevi's team took the Elite Men's Lighthouse down the I-5 to Seattle last year and have promised to come back and defend it, in fact they dare anyone to try and wrest it away from them.  The Burnaby Lake Women were able to hang on to their Lighthouse title last year after a very strong challenge from another Seattle-based team, the Mudhens.

This year, there is a women's team from San Diego that have heard of this annual affair and have decided to come up and see if they can fly this Lighthouse down to California!  Or maybe surf it down the Coast - they're called the San Diego Surfers.  You may have heard of them.

The Men's Social Division, as always, will be where the action promises to be.  Youngbucks took it last year, away from Cameron Neish and his boys from across the water.  I am sure Cam would like to ferry it back to Victoria, but may have to ask the blessing of Angus Fisher of Burnaby Lake.  Gus, BLRC's Social Men's Captain, has not laid his hands on it for two years now and is getting embarrassed  by the fact that teams are entering through his Kitchen back door and stealing his lunch.....
Entry Fees to the tournament are as follows:
Elite Men: $250
Elite Women: $250
Social Men: $100
If you'd like to bring your Team to this exciting tournament, please respond with your team(s) name and which Divisions you'd like to participate in to rkapaiwai@gmail.com
Entries close on July 19th to allow time to prepare the draw.
We look forward to hearing from you and look forward to seeing you at the pitch on July 27th
