Cowichan, Abbotsford and Clayton Heights take 2013 High School girls titles

VANCOUVER, BC - The 2013 BC Rugby High School Girls Provincial Finals wrapped on Saturday in dramatic fashion as Cowichan Secondary defeated seven-time provincial champs Carson Graham in over time for the triple-A title. Abbotsford Collegiate successfully defended their double-A title while Clayton Heights took the Tier Two division.

Cowichan and Carson Graham were level at 10-10 after two over time halves but due to Under-19 regulations were not permitted to play any further rugby. The tiebreaker saw Cowichan out score Carson in tries scored to take this year's title. Cowichan's Mikaela Fitz-George and full back Leah Theobald each crossed over for Cowichan's tries.

In the double-A final, powerhouse Abbotsford Collegiate Panthers defeated Mission's Heritage Park Highlanders by a score of 41-10. There were seven tries scored with three conversions.Nakisa Lavele and Junnaya Murphy each scored twice with single tries from Melody Algera, Tiffany Picketts, and Shelby Pihl.  Picketts kicked three conversions.
