WHITE ROCK, BC - Sevens season is underway in BC and the Bayside Sharks will be looking to make their mark on this year's summer circuit. The first official stop of the BC Sevens Series - Vancouver Rugby Sevens - is just under a month away and Bayside have appointed a coach and captain for this year's squad.
Along with Vancouver (June 22nd), Burnaby Lake (July 27th) and Abbotsford (August 3rd), the Bayside Summer Sevens (August 10th) will be the fourth and final stop on this year's circuit. The program's women's team won the recent Cloverdale Rodeo Sevens in Surrey and their men's team have begun preparations by appointing a full team staff and releasing their training schedule.

Great news as Jordi Cook has agreed to be the 7’s head coach. Jordi has a tremendous amount of international 7’s experience and we are fortunate to have him involved and I am sure he will get some of his past team mates out to guest coach. A little history for some of the young players - at one point bayside had five players playing for Canada on the 7’s circuit at the same time.
Adam Timler has been appointed 7’s Team Captain. Adam is a great bayside club member and has played 7’s at a high level and his leadership will be a great addition.
The goal of the 7’s program is to provide a premier team and a social team. The premier team is expected to be fit and prepared to compete at a high level.
The BC Rugby 7’s circuit (See schedule below) is a high level of 7’s. If you have ambition of playing 7’s internationally this is where you start and if you are playing at a social level the competition has this as well.
2013 7’s schedule:
Vancouver 7’s June 22nd
Burnaby Lake Lighthouse 7’s July 27th
Abbotsford Rugby 7’s August 3rd
Bayside Summer 7’s August 10th
The Bayside 7’s Staff will be:
Jordi Cook – Head Coach
7’s Team Captain – Adam Timler
Shea Herron - Assistant Coach
David Benoit – Manager / Coordinator
2013 BC Rugby Sevens Series Endorsed Tournaments
The four tournaments were endorsed by BC Rugby for committing to field both a men's and women's team in all series stops. Similar to the 2012 competition, club teams eligible for a provincial title will have to attend all four of the endorsed tournaments. These tournaments will also be open to representative and touring sides but only registered clubs in the BC Rugby Union will be able to accrue points towards a provincial title.
