The Earl Marriott senior boys rugby team returned home on Monday after a successful trip to the Sanix World Youth Tournament, in Fukuoka Japan. The boys travelled to Hong Kong for four days, followed by a week at the Global Arena.
The team improved steadily throughout the tournament, after showing heart and courage, but went 0-3 in pool play. EMS bounced back and went 3-0 in the 9th-16th decider tournament.
The boys played Nagasaki in their final game, a team which had beaten them 52-17 earlier in pool play. The rematch was a different story as EMS beat the Japanese side 31-29. All the boys represented British Columbia and Canada admirably. They finished in ninth place which is the best ever Canadian finish.
