Burnaby Lake's Sugawara, Reekie take premier scoring league titles

BURNABY, BC - BC Rugby's Canadian Direct Insurance Premier League and Adidas Women's Premiership scoring titles were each claimed by Burnaby Lake Rugby Club players this season. James Reekie, a standout fly half for Burnaby's men's side topped out at 139 points while Julia Sugawara led the women's competition with 65 points.

Men's Premier League
Reekie was a key member of Burnaby's run to the regular season title contributing 139 points through four tries, 17 penalties and 34 conversions.

UVic's Pat Kay ranked second in overall scoring with 79, through six penalties and 18 conversions.

The league's top try scorer title went to UVic Vikes and Canada-capped sevens flyer Beau Parker who finished the season with 14 tallies. The next highest try scorers were Burnaby's Joe Dolesau (13) and Admir Cejvanovic (10).

Women's Premiership
Sugawara led the league through five tries and 20 conversions and the Women's Premiership second highest scorer was fellow Burnaby Lake rep Genevieve Gratton who had nine tries and seven conversions for 59 points.

Tied for top try scorer was SFU's Demi Stamatakis who also had nine tallies this season. Tied for fourth with seven tries each were Velox's Frederique Rajotte and United's Cassandra Stevens.

Okanagan Spring Brewery League
UBC Thunderbird Sean Ferguson led the Okanagan Spring Brewery League in both scoring totals and try tallies with 150 points through 30 tries. The next highest scorer was Ryan Jacobs of Surrey Beavers who had 125, while the third highest was UBC's Brock Staller with 99. Vancouver Rowing Club's Henry Recinos ranked fourth with 92, UBC's Bryan Tyrer had 80 and Richmond RFC's Ryan Shams had 77.
