current Facebook and Twitter follower numbers and I will continue to monitor their progress leading up to May 25th. The contest will not be decided on which province has the overall “highest” following, but who can grow their combined Facebook and Twitter following the most over the allotted time period.
The winning province will be announced during the live broadcast of Rugby Canada’s Men’s Fifteens’ opening game of the Pacific Nations Cup in Edmonton against USA on May 25th.
Throughout the nearly four-week challenge I will help to promote each of the unions pages through Rugby Canada’s channels and I will also provide “Social Media Training”.
By doing this exercise, I’m hoping that the provincial unions will be able to connect further with rugby clubs from coast-to-coast to promote their social media accounts as a way to grow the game from a grassroots level. I also believe that by boosting Canadian rugby’s social media presence, Rugby Canada will be able to work alongside the provincial unions to align our communication strategies.
I look forward to witnessing and monitoring the progress of each of the provincial unions and working towards a decided winner on May 25th and a more connected state of Canadian rugby.
