VANCOUVER, BC - The 2013 BC Rugby women's club league semifinals are underway this weekend with fixtures staged for Saturday in Victoria, Coquitlam, Kamloops and Abbotsford.

The provincial finals for the Big Kahuna Women's First Division and Langara Fishing Adventures Division Two will be held the following weekend on May 4th. The Women's Adidas Premiership provincial final is currently slated for May 11th, the same weekend as BC Rugby's Canadian Direct Insurance Premier League finals. Venues will be determined by BC Rugby once the semifinal rounds have been completed.

Women's Adidas Premiership
The defending Women's Adidas Premiership champions Velox Valkyries clinched the top seed this past weekend with a 5-1 record. The current Gordon Harris Memorial Cup champions will now host the no.4 Simon Fraser University Rugby Club (3-3) at Velox RFC's home pitch in Saanich. Velox recently handed SFU a 67-0 loss on April 13th in their only clash of the regular season.

Lower Mainland rivals no.2 United Rugby Club (5-1) and no.3 Burnaby Lake (5-1) will battle at Coquitlam's Centennial Oval. United's league-leading defence (11 points per game) will have their hands full with Burnaby's top-ranked offence (52 ppg) and will also have to contain the regular season's top scorer in Julia Sugawara (65 pts). Burnaby's Genevieve Gratton ranked second in scoring with nine tries and seven conversions this season.

The two sides wrapped up the regular season on April 20th, with Kamloops posting a 25-7 victory.

Fraser Valley's no.3 Abbotsford RFC (5-1) head into the postseason as the top-ranked offence and defence. Allowing just 6 ppg against, Abbotsford are averaging 33.7 ppg in offensive output. They will host the no.3 seed Nanaimo Hornets (4-2) at Abbotsford's Exhibition Park this weekend.
