VANCOUVER - The second half of the 2012-13 Canadian Direct Insurance Premier League resumes this weekend and BC Rugby is excited to launch the rebranding of our top level men's club competition.

The new logo will feature the iconic BC Bear, a common national symbol for Canadians and habitants of the West Coast. The imagery and cultural significance of the majestic mammal is well documented in our province as the Spirit Bear (also known as the Kermode Bear) has been an official symbol of BC since 2006.

Canadian Direct Insurance has been the premier partner of the British Columbia Rugby Union and has been the title sponsor of the top men's club league in North America for over eight years. Providing home, auto and travel insurance - Canadian Direct is the fastest growing insurance company in Western Canada and is the official jersey sponsor of BC Rugby's provincial XVs programs.

Weekend Preview
League play resumes this weekend with two historic rivalries taking centre stage on Vancouver Island and in Vancouver. Klahanie Park in North Vancouver will play host to a bruising matchup between table-leaders Meraloma (5-2) and no.3 Capilano RFC (5-2). Just two points separate the sides in the standings as Meraloma look to reassert themselves as the top men's side on the Lower Mainland. Canadian national team scrum half and Meraloma standout Eric Wilson currently sits second in the league's scoring charts with with 39 to his credit. Capilano have their own share of fire power in Chris Robinson (37 pts) and Matt Yanagiya (35 pts) and will look to stay perfect on their home pitch.

Across the Georgia Strait, Windsor Park will play host to another '100 Years War' encounter between the storied no.2 James Bay Athletic Association (5-2) and no.6 Castaway Wanderers (2-4-1). James Bay sits just one point back of Meraloma in the standings and could launch themselves to the top of the table this weekend. The score will also count towards the Barnard Cup, Vancouver Island's men's elite club competition between JBAA, CW and UVic. Currently topping the Premier League scoring charts with 54 points is sharpshooter and former UVIc Vikes All Star soccer goalie Dan Kilpatrick. The talented dual-sport athlete has tallied 7 penalties, 9 conversions and a trio of tries so far this season.

No. 7 Bayside Athletic Association are on the road to Wallace Field against the young no.4 Uvic Vikes (3-4) who are currently holding onto the fourth and final playoff berth. UVic's strength remains to be seen as their national team players are currently back at school in the coming weeks. Bayside's scrum half Cody Rockson is a proven leader, having recently captained Fraser Valley to a McKechnie Cup title.

A pivotal matchup on the Lower Mainland sees bottom-dwellers UBC Old Boy Ravens (1-4-1) away to no. 5 Burnaby Lake Rugby Club (3-3). Both sides feature a number of players who stood out for Vancouver and Fraser Valley in the recent McKechnie Cup and will look to hit the ground running on Saturday.
