VICTORIA - The Canadian Direct Insurance Premier League returns in full force to Vancouver Island this weekend with three games on tap. Week six of the Premier schedule features rematches of last year's semifinals where Burnaby Lake Rugby Club lost to James Bay, and Capilano upset Oak Bay's Castaway Wanderers at Windsor Park. The UBCOB Ravens round out this Saturday's trio of Island fixtures with a visit to Wallace Field against the UVic Vikes.

The perennial powerhouse Castaway Wanderers are currently sitting at 1-2-1 and over the next three weeks will face opponents ahead of them in the standings. First up on Saturday are the defending league champs Capilano RFC.

"We have enjoyed some terrific games against Capilanos over the past few years - something of a contrast in style perhaps," said CW's head coach Ian Hyde-Lay. "But we know they will be well prepared, very committed, consistent and skilled."

The Castaway Wanderers haven't produced a win since defeating league new-comers Bayside Sharks back on September 29th and currently trail Capilano by 7 points in the standings.

"Overall, in sixth position, we are right where we deserve to be," Hyde-Lay said. "[Our] main struggles have been fielding a consistent lineup from week to week. There always seems to be a new halfback combination, new midfield or new front row. Again, team selection for this Saturday is very much up in the air."

CW's roster features a number of familiar faces who have seen the club through to their recent provincial championships.

The list includes centre Matt Buckley, prop Clayton Thornber and locks Clayton Daum and Gord Kehoe. Backrowers Riley Ilnicki and Dylan Jones continue to make their presence felt but even these veterans have not been available for selection each week.

"We are finally drawing from almost a full squad and hopefully this will be reflected in consistency of selection in the coming weeks," Hyde-Lay added.

Newcomers to watch include CW product Evan Seale and Fraser Lyle.

"The most pleasant surprise has been full back Evan Seale. He is only 18, but has been very steady, clever and effective," Hyde-Lay said. "Fraser Lyle has also impressed in his two outings."

Capilano have been rebuilding after losing a number of players to retirement since lifting the Rounsefell Cup. Their offence continues to produce, however, and their average of 26 points per game ranks second in the league. Chris Robinson leads the side with 30 points this season while Matt Yanagiya has also been consistent with 23 points in three outings.

"Capilanos will be very direct and abrasive. Glen McKinnon and Adam Zaruba are outstanding ball carriers," Hyde-Lay added. "Defensively, as a team, Capilano will be extremely well organized. We are going to need to produce quick ball, hold on to possession, and attack wide."

Kick off at Windsor Park is scheduled for 2:45pm. The First Division sides will face off in Ceili's Cup play at 1:00pm.
