VICTORIA - Vancouver Island's U17 Tide were convincing winners of the women's division at the Victoria Sevens on Saturday, coming away with a 42-0 cup final victory over the North Island representative side.
In the final Leah Theobald paced the Island Tide with four tries for 20 points. Nicole Crowley recorded a brace while single tallies were scored by Lydia Toorenbourgh and Allie White.
"Today was a big step for this group who haven't played very much sevens," said Island Tide head coach Craig White. "We were missing four or five of our top players at the BC U18 camp so this was huge for us. It's great to go into the BC Summer Games having played in this tournament and I'm glad we had this opportunity."
