VICTORIA - The Fraser Valley West U14 boys program took home three pieces of hardware from the Victoria International Sevens event on Saturday, winning the Cup, Plate and Shield Finals. The program looks strong ahead of next week's BC Summer Games, scheduled for July 19-22 in Surrey.

The Valley West-1s were down 12-10 in the final minute of the Cup Final before speedster Wylie Gillette sprinted down the near touch line and dotted down for the game winning try.

Tournament runners-up Vancouver Island fielded two teams and lost out on the trophies as they finished second and fourth in the tournament.

"I thought the level of play was pretty impressive and that was a pretty close game. They starved us of possession and were quicker at the breakdown than us," said Fraser Valley West coach Mike Jamieson after the Cup final. "Our athleticism definitely paid off and you have to give credit to our guys for not trying to come back and win it all at once."

"That was a pretty close game and I think the next time we play them it will be a good battle," Jamieson added.
