CRFC kicks off it's 50th summer with the Cowichan Invitational 7's taking place on Friday/Saturday, July 6-7 at the Piggie Dome in Duncan. The weather will be perfect and the Cowichan grounds are in pristine condition. There will be a live band, camping and, of course, some rugby.
The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a live Irish band playing at the grounds starting at 7pm. Tickets for Friday are almost sold out so if you want to attend the Friday night extravaganza, go to the CRFC Facebook page and contact Caroline or Jake for information - ID required at gate to get in.
The rugby kicks of Saturday, July 7th morning at 11am until whenever and includes 10 teams mostly from Vancouver Island in men's and women's divisions. Open to all spectators and maybe the odd, casual player that wants to join one of the teams for go.
This is mostly a fun weekend and many players are just being introduced to the 7-a-side thing. The response was good from a variety of clubs - and we may discover one or two "diamonds in the rough" jousting about in this fun-a-side affair!
