Burnaby Lake Lighthouse Sevens set for July 7

BURNABY - Sevens season is in full swing and the next stop of the 2012 BC Sevens Series is just weeks away as tournament organizers prepare for the Burnaby Lake Lighthouse Sevens set for July 7th at Burnaby's Sports Complex.

There are currently 27 teams registered in four divisions with tournament organizers still looking to add sides to the Women's and Men's Elite divisions as well as the Men's Social competition.

Men's Elite - $250 entry fee, $1000 prize
The men's elite is looking to add three teams to the division which already has nine squads registered. The elite currently features four club sides in Burnaby Lake, Meralomas, Abbotsford and Bayside as well as rep sides Youngbucks, Kolofo'ou and Victoria-based South Seas Connection. Old Puget Sound Beach from Washington state will be fielding two teams in the competition.

Women's Elite - $250 entry fee, $1000 prize
The women's elite still has three spots open to add to the Seattle Mudhens, Meralomas, Abbotsford, OPSB and tournament hosts Burnaby Lake.

Men's Social - $100 entry fee, $500 prize
In the social division registered sides include the Untouchables, SFU, Vancouver Fire, Vancouver Rowers, Burnaby Lake, and the Devlin Party of Seven.

U14 Boys - no entry fee
There will also be a U14 boys divisions with teams from Capilano, Burnaby Lake, Squamish, Vancouver Island (1 & 2) and a side from Vancouver.

2012 BC Sevens Series
Three tournaments will be endorsed as official stops on the 2012 BC Rugby Sevens Series circuit, and club teams registered within the BC Rugby Union will have the opportunity to accrue points towards a provincial championship. The three stops include the Vancouver Rugby Sevens on June 16; Burnaby Lake Lighthouse Sevens on July 7; and the Abbotsford Rugby Sevens on July 28.
