The two men considered the world’s most eminent rugby 7s players of all time will display their talents together at the Serevi Vancouver International rugby 7s tournament July 21 at Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium.

England’s Ben Gollings has confirmed he will be a guest player with Fijian Waisale Serevi’s Seattle-based team in the International division of the tournament, presented by WINGS pubs and restaurants.

Gollings is the all-time points scorer in rugby 7s with 2,652 points in 70 tournaments, surpassing Serevi’s record of 1,310 points. He has spent the past decade playing on the International 7s circuit as well as playing in three Commonwealth Games and scored a try and conversion to help England to its fourth consecutive Hong Kong 7s tournament victory in 2006.

He currently plays fly half for Lions rugby football club in England and during his illustrious career has played for club teams in Australia, New Zealand and Japan and was a member of England’s under 16, 18 and 19 national sides.

Serevi represented Fiji in five World Cup 7s, winning the Cup in 1997 and 2005. He also won two silver and one bronze medal for his country at the Commonwealth Games  and coached his native Fiji to the prestigious IRB Seven Series title.

Serevi Rugby is a Seattle-based company focused on promoting the sport of rugby world-wide and conducting youth clinics.

Gollings' appearance at the tournament is sponsored by Serevi, Hilton Vancouver Metrotown, Tourism Burnaby and Vancouver International Rugby Sevens.

Participating teams in the tournament will be announced over the next few weeks.
