VANCOUVER - The 2011-2012 XVs club season is officially in the books and BC Rugby would like to thank all the coaches, players, volunteers, referees, supporters and parents who made this past year such a success.

The summer season has quickly crept up on us, however, and it's about time we send out a full listing of summer events happening across the province.

Sevens season is in full swing and this Saturday, June 9th, club and representative sides will descend upon Bullen Park in Esquimalt for the Buccaneer Rugby Sevens. Up next is the Vancouver Rugby Sevens at Connaught Park in Kitsilano, the first of three official stops on the 2012 BC Rugby Sevens circuit where club sides will be competing for a provincial championship. Official stops also include the Burnaby Lake Lighthouse Sevens on July 7th and the Abbotsford Rugby Sevens on July 28th. A full listing of sevens competitions in BC including international tournaments in Victoria and Vancouver are available below.

For XVs the focus now shifts to representative rugby. For age grade players (U18 Men and Women, U16 Men) tryouts for the Provincial Regional Championships at UBC are just getting started. The PRCs is the largest youth tournament in the Pacific Northwest and is used as a selection tool by our provincial coaches to select rosters for Nationals slated for August 8-12 in Sherbrooke, Quebec this year. Another major age grade tournament which only comes around every two years is the BC Summer Games, set to feature sevens rugby for U17 women and U14 boys teams. The tournament will run from July 19-22 at South Surrey Athletic Complex. With the announcement of BC Rugby's newest sponsor, TrueBlue Blueberry Juice, there will also be U15 and U17 boys provincial teams where players will scrum down against sides from the North California Youth Rugby Association. For age grade players being introduced to rugby there will be four summer camps during the month of July in Whiterock, Vancouver and Burnaby.

Key dates to mark your calendars for senior rugby include the June 13th fixture between BC's Under-23 men's team versus St. Andrew's University, Canada against Georgia on June 23rd and the National Women's League Finals in Quebec scheduled for June 28-July 1. The Canadian Rugby Championship runs from August 18th through September 15th and kicks off with BC in Calgary to scrum down against the Prairie Wolf Pack.
