VANCOUVER, BC: The 2012 BCSSRU (Boy's High School) Sevens provincial championship kicks off this Saturday, April 21st at St. George's School in Vancouver.
Day one kicks off at 12pm and will feature 24 games of pool play with the teams then seeded for the playoff rounds on day two. Sunday, April 22nd will feature the playoff rounds with teams contesting for Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup championships. Day two kicks off at 9:30am and wraps up with the Cup final at 2:15.
Shawnigan Lake School are defending champions having defeated GP Vanier 31-5 in the 2011 Cup final. Shawnigan went undefeated during the two-day tournament, which featured 18 triple-A and double-A high school teams from across the province. The Stags were 2-0 in pool play with victories over West Vancouver and Robert Bateman. In the Cup quarterfinals, Shawnigan downed Argyle 36-12 and then edged Oak Bay High 31-17 in the semifinal round. The Stags are also the reigning provincial triple-A BCSSRU 15-a-side champions.
