Vancouver, BC: BC Rugby is proud to announce the creation of the First XV Volunteer Appreciation program, an initiative designed to recognize the valuable pillars of our membership that help keep our sport afloat.
Did you know approximately 120 years worth of working hours are spent volunteering each year by members of the rugby community in British Columbia? Volunteerism is the life blood of our sport. Plain and simple.
As we cheer on Canadian internationals like Conor Trainor, Nathan Hirayama and Sean White currently doing us proud at the Rugby World Cup, we have to remember that their success would not have been possible without the countless volunteers and hours invested in providing a platform for these young men to reach the pinnacle of their sport.
The BC Rugby First XV Volunteer Appreciation program is designed to acknowledge 15 of the top volunteers across the province this season.
BC Rugby will select individuals who will be presented with a premium "thank you" item. But of course we realize that no volunteer acts in isolation… so each of the 15 individuals will receive another 10 thank you items to show their appreciation to 10 top volunteers that work in their club.
Stay tuned for the first ever First XV Volunteer announcement coming your way in October...
