Calgary, Alta: The pool rounds of the 2011 Rugby Canada National Festival Championships wrapped on Thursday afternoon, with all four BC teams advancing to the semifinal rounds.

The U18 men's team finished on top of their pool with a 4-0 record and will face Alberta in Saturday's semifinal.

The BC Men's U16-1 (Gold) team also went 4-0 and will face the fourth-seeded BC Men's U16-2 (Blue) in the semis, who finished with a 3-1 record. The biggest surprise of the tournament has been Newfoundland who finished with a 3-1 record in third spot. Ontario-1 finished outside the top four and will not advance to the semifinal round.

The BC Women's U18 squad drew with Ontario-2 and clinched the no. 2 seed with an impressive 58-0 win over Newfoundland. The Women's squad will now play Quebec in Saturday's semifinal, a team they defeated 20-0 on day one.

Coach's quotes - Jeff Williams (Ontario Postgame)
"The boys showed fantastic commitment from the beginning of the game right through to the end. Ontario is a solid team and the game came down to one or two plays on both sides. Although we won, we have work to do and areas to work on in order to move forward in this event. Our first objective was to win our pool and now we have to refocus on achieving our goals in the playoff rounds."

Coach's Quotes - Brad Baker
"The girls team began the day with a hard fought tie against Ontario.  It was a physically demanding game.  The team had a must win game against Needoundland in the afternoon. The girls came out strong and scored 30 seconds into the game.  All the girls battled hard and deserve to be playing in the national semi final against Quebe in Saturday."

Coach's Quotes - Dave Brown
"Today's schedule really tested the depth and resolve of the squad. The players knew they had to get a result in both games against Alberta and Newfoundland to progress. Every player contributed and it was especially pleasing to see the U15 players come through in pressure situations. To reach the final four is a tremendous accomplishment for this group of athletes."
