Burnaby, BC: A total of 25 teams battled through torrential downpour and foggy conditions on Saturday, competing in the 29th annual SFU Highland Summer Sevens tournament.
Over 50 games were played on the day featuring teams from Vancouver Island, Williams Lake, Kelowna, Seattle, Oregon and the Lower Mainland.
The Bayside Ambassadors, a mix of Bayside RFC and international Fijian players clinched the Men's Premier Division with a narrow 21-19 Cup final victory over Burnaby Lake Lighthouse. Burnaby claimed 10 crucial points through finishing as runners up and jump into top spot on the BC Sevens Series standings.
In the Women's Premier division, reigning Series champs and current leaders Burnaby Lake downed Velox 22-7 in the Cup final. Meraloma advanced to the semis and were awarded eight points in the standings.
The Men's Social division featured 13 teams this year, with Burnaby edging Velox 14-12 in the Cup Final.
