U18 Men
After four rounds in the Under-18 men's competition, only Fraser Valley (4-0) are still boasting an undefeated record after posting two strong wins on day two of the competition. Fraser Valley downed Vancouver 29-7 in the morning before carrying their form into the afternoon where they posted a bonus-point victory over Thompson-Okanagan Kamloops (0-3-1).

The Valley squad have qualified for the gold medal game tomorrow regardless of their round-robin finale against Thompson-Okanagan Kelowna (1-2-1) at 9:20am.

"There may have been some lop-sided scores in the tournament so far, but everyone is making us work for our spaces," said Fraser Valley head coach Harry Toews. "I've been impressed with the level of play in terms of competition that we are up against. But right now we seem to have those individuals that are able to exploit the gaps and I think that's what we've been doing well so far. Our guys are very athletic and I've been especially impressed with our attack."

Vancouver Island South (3-1) are currently the frontrunners to meet Fraser Valley in the U18 final, sitting five points shy in the standings. The defending U18 champs Vancouver (2-2) could still qualify for the championship game but would need at least a bonus point victory tomorrow as they currently sit four points shy of the South Island squad heading into Sunday.

Vancouver scrums down against Vancouver Island North (1-3) tomorrow morning, while Vancouver Island South wrap up the round robin against Thompson-Okanagan Kamloops.

U18 Women
The Fraser Valley Women's U18 team narrowly go into tomorrow's final game against Vancouver as the top seed. Both the Valley squad and Vancouver have identical 2-0 records with ten points overall. Fraser Valley recorded 87 points for and seven against, with Vancouver recording 89 for and 10 against through two games, for a differential of just one point.

"We are really building momentum heading into the final game," said Fraser Valley head coach Jen Ross. "Our team is looking good and the strength of our squad this year is indicative of the growth of women's rugby in the Valley. The programs in Whiterock and Abbotsford are producing a lot of great players and this rep team is reaping the benefits right now."

When asked about tomorrow's final game, Ross replied, "Vancouver are always our main rivals. Tomorrow we will be evenly matched."

Fraser Valley and Vancouver will face off at 10:10am, the same time the bronze medal match is scheduled between Vancouver Island and Cariboo.

U16 Men
The Fraser Valley West (4-0) squad finished day two with another two bonus point victories, downing Thompson Okanagan 37-0  and Vancouver Island North 29-19. With a division leading 20 points in the standings, Fraser Valley is currently one point up on both Vancouver Island South (4-0) and Vancouver North (4-0).

The South Island squad wrapped up the day with a crucial 23-7 win to distance themselves from fourth-place Fraser Valley East.

"Right now we have 25 guys and everyone of them is contributing in a major way," said South Vancouver Island coach Jeff Williams. "With four pool games in two days, this tournament has really turned into a battle of attrition. We have guys that are stepping up and playing the forwards when they're usually in the backs. These guys really are the epitome of what it means to be a team."
