Clive Johnson is a former rugby player and self-made businessman. Along with the former executive and management team of Bema Gold Corporation, Clive Johnson founded B2Gold in 2007. Bema grew from a junior explorer to an international gold producer that was acquired by Kinross Gold Corporation through a Cdn $3.5 billion transaction in February of 2007.
In July, 2012, BC Rugby announced a three-year partnership that saw B2GOLD Corp. named as the title sponsor of the 'B2GOLD Provincial Regional Championships,' established to enhance the athlete experience and provide a platform for growth at the representative level. Additionally, a new fund to support representative youth rugby in British Columbia was established by Johnson.
The B2GOLD PRCs is an annual competition held in Vancouver where age grade players are introduced to representative level rugby featuring approximately 500 athletes from across the province.
