A Principal with Avison Young, John has acted for notable local, national and international clients on a wide range of commercial real estate assignments. John’s service platform is predicated on collaborating with client senior management to develop and execute real estate strategy which compliments corporate objectives. Experience acting for Landlord’s and Tenant’s has provided John with a unique skill set able to underwrite all asset classes and develop acquisition/disposition strategies for the purchase and sale of investment property. Additionally, John has relocated Tenants and Owner/Users into existing facilities or new build to suit facilities; successfully completing in excess of 1,000,000 sq.ft. of relocation mandates on behalf of his clients.
Winning three Rounsefell Cups with the Meralomas, Lecky also represented the Canadian senior men’s national team on 18 occasions. Lecky’s test debut was against Japan in 1982 and his 10 year career saw him win caps against USA, Italy, Australia, Wales, Ireland, Fiji and Romania. Lecky earned four caps on the wing for Canada, but his true position was in the centres where he earned his remaining 14 caps and scored a test try against the USA in 1986. Lecky’s final five matches were all wins for Canada as he closed out his career with a 52.7 winning percentage in the test arena.
After securing his Diploma of Marketing from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and studying Commerce at Washington State University, Lecky excelled off the pitch in the commercial real estate industry. Lecky is now a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV)
Lecky continues to give back to Rugby, and is currently serving as President of the British Columbia Rugby Union.
