SafeRugby Program
Over the coming months BC Rugby will be introducing their SafeRugby Program an initiative designed in collaboration with Rugby
Canada ’s Approach to SafeRugby Program for Club Coaches, Referees and Players.
The primary aim of the SafeRugby program is to provide coaches, referees and club administrators with the required knowledge, skills and leadership abilities to ensure that safety principles and best practice principles are incorporated into all aspects of contact rugby.
It is a mandatory minimum requirement for every coach, player and referee participating in rugby where there is a tackling or contact component. A SafeRugby Course is required to be completed in 2007, requiring qualification every two years. To be fully effective it requires an ongoing commitment.
