VANCOUVER - BC Rugby will be entering a provincial team in the 2012 Under-19 Canadian Rugby Championship event to be held in Alberta from July 11th-15th. The tournament will be held at the Nor'Westers Athletic Association's fields in South East Edmonton.
Dave Brown, Provincial Coach and Development Manager, explained: “We will be sending a U19 squad to Alberta and it will be chosen from players born in 1993. At this point in time the Selection Camp is scheduled to be held at UBC on Sunday, May 27th. Following this Camp, an initial squad will be chosen for training and preparation in June and early July. Full details of costs along with the training and travel itinerary will be released at the Camp.” Brown also indicated that BC Rugby would be seeking a qualified Coach to lead this program.
Rugby Canada has identified the U19 CRC event as a pathway competition for all players with the ambition to play for the Rugby Canada U20 team that competes at the Junior World Rugby Trophy stating that it is, “the most advantageous way for them to display their skill, their talent, their rugby knowledge and their on field rugby ability...against other players vying for selection in this squad.”
All players interested in being involved with the U19 Program should contact Dave Brown directly at firstname.lastname@example.org Eligible players should be from the 1993 birth year and currently registered with BC Rugby.
