Vancouver Fundraiser – Aug. 18th, Golf Tournament & Dinner at UBC for Canada's Men's World Cup XV
On Thursday August 18th, at the UBC Golf Course, Rugby Canada is hosting a fundraising Golf Tournament & Dinner for the National Men’s XV headed to New Zealand (they fly out the next day) for the 2011 iRB Rugby World Cup. Shotgun start for golf at 1:15pm and dinner will start at 7:30pm. On-line registration can be done here;
Doug Whidden and I have volunteered to engage the BC rugby community to fill the 144 golfer spots, find at least 9 “hole sponsors” and sell-out the ‘dinner only’ tickets. Some of the groups and individuals that have already come onboard include; Langara Fishing Adventures, Mark Docherty, the BC Rugby Union, Ceili’s, Fit Foods, the Meraloma Club, the Capilano RFC, Big Kahuna, Gareth Rees, Mel Reeves, the Vancouver Sun / the Province, St. George’s School, the Brew Bay B & B and long-time rugby Pro Mike James... we’ve got room for 36 foursomes and we’re filling up quickly... Hopefully you’ll be able to commit to supporting this event by coming on board as a golfer, bringing a foursome, donating a prize, joining for dinner or committing to be hole sponsor.
A few event details;
- The evening will include a Silent Auction and a Live Auction and we’re looking for donors to support these events. Rugby Canada is working with current sponsors to secure key items for these auctions (6 Nations ticket package and a Langara Fishing Trip will be included).
- Gareth Rees and Mike James will host a Q & A panel interview segment with current and past team Captains.
- Gift bags with for all golfers with prizes for long drives, closest to the pin etc.
- National Team coaches, managers and players will all be in attendance throughout the day and evening.
We are looking forward to a great day and an even better evening on Aug. 18th at the UBC Golf Course. We hope you and your friends can join us in supporting our National Men’s XV as they head off to New Zealand to represent Canada at the iRB 2011 Rugby World Cup.
