BRITISH COLUMBIA RUGBY UNION CONSTITUTION

1. NAME

1.01 The name of the Society is "THE BRITISH COLUMBIA RUGBY UNION", hereinafter also referred to as the Union.

2. PURPOSES

The purposes of the Society are:

2.01 To administer, control, organize, encourage and promote the game of Rugby Football in the Province of British Columbia.

2.02 To improve the standard and quality of play, coaching and officiating of Rugby Football in the Province of British Columbia.

2.03 To plan, organize and coordinate the various matches, competitions, programmes and activities among the member unions.

2.04 To encourage fair competition and arrange matches and tours for Provincial Representative sides and any other matches which the Union may deem necessary.

2.05 To obtain income to cover the costs of operating the various activities of the Union.

2.06 To obtain playing fields and accommodation for the Union and to assist member unions and clubs, so far as it is possible, in the provision and playing fields and accommodation.

3. AFFILIATIONS

3.01 The Union shall have power to belong to other societies or associations, whether or not incorporated, with purposes similar to or beneficial to the Union, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Union may be a member of the Canadian Rugby Union. This provision is alterable.

4. WINDING UP OR DISSOLUTION OF THE SOCIETY

4.01 Upon winding up or upon dissolution of the Society, the assets which remain after payment of all costs, charges, and expenses which are properly incurred in winding up shall be distributed to such charitable organization or organizations registered under the provisions of the Income Tax Act (Canada) as may be determined by the members of the Society at the time of winding up or dissolution. This provision shall be unalterable.

5. CHARITABLE STATUS

5.01 The business of the Union shall be conducted without purpose of monetary gain for its members, and any profit which may accrue shall be used for promoting its objective. This provision shall be unalterable.
